It was a good day out, enjoyable... Results should be out on PnS site soon I believe or FB...

Just finished reading this write up on Sundays novice trial, fuck me im still none the wiser to how it went.

My own view is all the above will help your dog and are positive actions as you are focusing on achieving a result !!! Now in saying that Ive always thought of a test with out a comp as kinda like going to Karate and doing the katas to achieve your belts..wow you gota a black -you get there but havent actually fought in the ring under pressure which really shows the weaknesses as a white belt beats the shit out of you ...lol

Oh El B, get off your soapbox, for crying out loud...if someone has a gundog and shoots the odd rabbit or hare over them and the occasional pheasant and quail, and that person and their dog are happy with that, then that is how it is:...some of the most amazing work by sheep dogs I have witnessed working big country of mobs of 500 plus would make a sheep trial dog look like a whelp...

Question...how many dogs are actually involved in gundog trials and/or tests...what would be ball park figure for the percentage...it would be a very small,right? ...so there must be alot of dogs out there doing as their breed was intended to do with happy owners...for many, the proof of just how good their dog is, is in the oven...

PS...in my knowledge, gaining a black belt in karate or judo is not an easily gained title...and the scenerio of a white belt thrashing a black belt is somewhat unrealistic...

hahaha I doubt this !!! I imagine most of those trialing sheep dogs are actually working the farm for a job too ..... You miss the point of the Karate EES , they go through a Kata routine which has skill in itself ....but at the end they dont have to compete to pass the belt and if they did the results would be wide and varied

Well, I know of two dogs who will never be trialed who have had more birds shot over them than you could wave a stick at...their work is incredible...
