Well, if reinforcing the command NO with corrective action and modifying behaviours with praise hasnt meant anything to your dog, then there is a flaw somewhere..the handler has to want the behaviour change more than the dog wants to maintain the behaviour...he dog we human (albeit, some more than others)

I trained my pup using the reward system worked fantastic UNTIL shes hunting I cant not for the life of me get her to come to me at times as the what ever shes doing at the time far out weighs the punishment and the last thing I want to do to her is punish her when see comes back to me a bit of a catch 22 but I can get her to do almost anything else quickly using the reward system

As far as teaching No goes I used the word leave instead and use a different voice when using it (my man voice) she fast lerned that that tone of voice ment she was doing something wrong and she naturaly stopped what she was doing which was followed by praise and possably a treat if there was one handy.

trust me there is nothing wrong with my dog i can stop it on the spot with a stop whistle at distance, recall it from and stop it on running brids or anything , forum members have seen this !! ,
this thread is just me debating training methods , "im just putting it out there" but no one (or you) seems to be picking up what im lying down ???

The word NO is used during corrective action...
and this is my point ! your not saying what you teach no to mean are you ? you just say no means no .....

im saying if you dont teach a action to the word no,, your only teaching a emotion ..... so how can there be no emotion if thats all you have tort ??
im tyring to debate that if you dont teach a action to a command the dog wont understand and im using no as a example as there is a negative emotion with it ,,, , but your reply is only.......... no means no and some thing smart about dogs being dogs ........................ no shit

and thats because the technique you use to teach a command,, is not the same technique you use to get a dog to do a command, they are totally different ,,

Kaimaicockher, you made the point I made. No means......what? Sit means to sit.

This is why my dog doesn't understand what 'no' means. I bet a lot of other dogs don't understand it either.

    What more do you want?
