What exactly are you worried is going to happen? Someone might talk about something on a forum, which is for talking about stuff?

People talk about off topic stuff all the time, it's the way conversations naturally develop. We're not going to sit around all day making sure no-one ever strays even slightly from the exact topic discussed in the thread title. No one cares.

El-B, who the fcuk cares ? It's a forum... and a pretty decent one with a mix of views, and most of the folks here are reasonably pleasant. Some sections are fun, some are serious, and some (like the doggie section) are just plain barking mad.

Threads go off-topic in a ratio that is proportionally squared to the amount of ego and bullshit that they contain...

The "serious" dog guys are the only folks who seem to have a problem with the split - says it all in my book.

I'm all for a mutt / dawg / hound area where the rest of us can have a reasonably sane yarn, and then somewhere else for the few of you who care to go and debate breed, compos, theoretical training methodologies etc

Majority rules I guess I would enjoy threads staying on subject so you don't have to read several pages of crap to find your golden nugget which is wat we also appear to be talkin about
Tweed or not to Tweed that is the question

Bullshit. It's a pain in the arse if it goes off topic, then you gotta read the whole fucking thing which is fine if it's under say, three pages. But this fucker took forever to read.

Now I think that porn is in fact why we are all here. Namely we don't find enough of it so here we are. That and we'll all way to tight arsed to pay for it. (the porn that is)

If you can't find effectively infinite free pornography on the Internet, your access should be revoked.

It's not one of those forums. We assumed correctly our members would have the mental capacity to relate one post to another within a thread. Primary school level reading comprehension.

Essentially, if a member, any member, wants to post in a thread on their forum, they have the right to. You guys have the right not to like it, and so not reply, but you don't get to tell people to what they can and can't do.

This forum allows off topic posting. Simple. No one gets to declare themselves a self appointed moderator. If you want a forum where on topic posting is strictly enforced, google is your friend. Go find one.

We interfere the absolute minimum. All these justifications for the behaviour in the dog section are nonsense. It's a complete shambles. We don't interfere more than absolutely neccassary but clearly this is a very special case.

We will either rehabilitate the dog forum, or we will take it out the back and shoot it.
That is all well and good and I can appreciate your logic. But in reality, what it actually boils down to is what you want for the dog section in the forum you run. You either want new members contributing.... or you don't. If you want new members or people who have been scared off by the crap to come and contribute, then obviously the crap needs to not be there. Simple. As you say, there are plenty of forums out there, I am sure these potential contributors will find one where they feel comfortable.

Dont think you're excluded from the crap... almost 50% of your posts are giving someone shit - and low and behold - in the dog section.
    Practice what you preach..

Yep in one thread to the one person who deserves it the most - so 50% of almost no posts in this section is stuff all. For months I have sat in the background not posting in the dog section but watching and have never posted until this thread. Work that out - the original problem has nothing at all to do with me!!
    Spanners... take your own advice.

Seriously if you are guna do a job, get some balls and do it properly or just don't bother.

Its dynamic cos watching these comments and opinions is more fun than and has more drama than Shortland Street.. Slip in a couple of affairs and a royal rogering or two and we ll stay for the next exciting episode.

So long as NCIS or SOA or Africa or CSI is not on tele of course... and we re not off someplace making living stuff dead stuff occaisonally..
