Tweed or not to Tweed that is the question
Yes i should try that out nxt season, follow a good dog and see what its all about
Ok, so i prefure bitches, but not that keen on breeding/having pups, so thinking a dog would be easyer, what would help the breeders the most, do they like to have a few bitches out there for certain stud dogs, or vice versa
take a bitch that the breeder can take back to have a litter out of if it turns out to be a nice dog
I know a guy down the road with a DD,i should go have a yarn with him
Yeah I've been to his place. Nice guy
He came from the dark side too
Edit. Going sideways... back to the breeding everyone

My mate was a mad keen pig hunter , now he's got no dogs , we take my pot licker out, he's not nessasary but has started indicating pigs and has tracked and found shot pigs that have made it to the scrub . If pigs don't get dogged they dont seem to bugger of far and a quiet indicater dosnt make them. , we found we could just pick a mob off 1 and 2 at a time ,we got over 30 one winter like that on one farm . And nice eaters no stinking old boars any more . A DD would be perfect , and of course you can hunt deer and birds all with same dog , too easy (haaaaa)
start with reading the books that leon recommends in his book about breeding
funny you mention Leon as I am re-reading his own book. The thread was not really aimed at me per se but more peoples own thoughts on the subject
Tweed or not to Tweed that is the question
I disagree to a degree on that...there are some lines (in all breeds) that have. through the genetic merry go round been left with a little less than desirable nouce which does not do them any favours...no matter how good the handler is...and some people, bless them, will persist with these dogs to make a point or because they have never had anything to compare them with...
