I believe that the dog found us...he took us hunting...the penultimate vector was never going to miss the opportunity of securing the spoils of the camp or cave fire...whereupon we developed a symbiotic relationship that has existed for millenia...he made our hunting and gathering not only more productive but also far more successful...(as he continues to do so)...no need to dig deer trap holes with deer antler spades in the vain hope that some unsuspecting animal and or driven, should be trapped...his co-existence enabled the human to further develop his own hunting skills with improvements and developments of hunting tools which would sustain both him and cani...the knapping of flint for example became a finite and precise art and took hunting to a higher level...without the dog in the mix, who knows the impairment to human evolution...

The one aspect of our relationship with dog that really aggravates me is the preposterous notion that we the owner of the dog indulge ourselves the notion that we are the pack leader, alpha male, alpha female...it is infantile to presume such a notion...we human, they dogs...we are still party to our symbiotic origins...and that will never change for the hunters because we cannot smell and hear like the dog...

Let me suggest, Tussock, that the day you start running around sniffing at humans' bums, piddling on every tree and car tyre, scratching your ear with your foot and baying at a hunters' moon, FGS ring someone....!!!!
