    good advice Mickey Duck where owners go wrong with electric collars is that they are a correction aid and should be only used when the dog has had basic training and then need some reinforcing - they should not be used for basic training -the only time i would change that is a dog that is aggressive to people stock or other dogs but the dog should have had a leave it command from day one - it is really easy to completely screw up a dog with one ( I know ) as you said walk dog amongst stock and reinforce a leave it command - you only need 3 commands to start with 1) come 2) leave it 3 ) stay thats it come and stay are hand commands as well as spoken - if you let that GSP loose attach 20 meters of nylon rope tied to collar - that starts to give you some control
