    German dog tracking wounded deer

I don't understand a word they are saying. I think it is about a dog handler using his dog to track a deer a hunter wounded.

    hillclima and EeeBees like this.

Yeah... its a group of swiss hunters in the Domleschg region.
Hunting laws in that part of switzerland date back to 1910. Up to this day you are only allowed to hunt there with a single shot rifle with the caliber of 10.3mm.
They wounded a red deer and called the ranger, whos officially in charge of searching wounded animals.
The report says that every 10th stag only gets wounded and not killed immediately, however the report draws a fair picture of hunting.

The funny thing: while hes after the deer he is smoking... thos mountain guys

PS: the first shot that wounded the deer was a lousy one.

Was considering bringing one with me when we moved but quarantine is a pain. Do miss blood trekking with sausage dog.
Nothing is tough about having a 70 lb bow and looking like an uncoordinated praying mantis while trying to draw it back.

Not so much of a pain now. If you have all the right shots and history I hear that it's now only ten days.
Which is a lot better than the six months it used to be.

I respect your beliefs but don't impose them on me.

The heading informs us that every tenth stag shot is only wounded.

I believe that for the services of tracking down the wounded beast, at least on commercial hunts, the bad shot gets to fork out good extra money for the cost of a wounded animal search.

    It's about responsibility and compassion.

Didn't know about that. Was 5 years ago when I looked into it. Is that from any EU countries ok UK only?

It can take 6 months or 3 months if the dog has a valid pet pass port.
From the uk it is 6 months as they do not vacs for rabies.
We have a barbarian mountain hound due out middle of next year...hopefully in pup.

Although exporting a puppy as I did into the UK from Europe, the titre test can be done by the UK veterinarians after three months of the rabies vaccination. As many from the UK take their dogs to Europe they do have them vaccinated for the disease ...
