Looks like every man and his dog breed them now... you would want to do some serious research on them to find the right breeder

Great dogs, very keen to hunt and very intelligent high energy but allot of fun to be around but can be to needy at times.
They are good around kids and dont like strangers in their patch, good all-round dogs if you are into water fowl as well.
I got mine from Dave Wilson in Te Anau and am glad i did as Dave or Ali are always contactable and really care for their litters and really want to see their dog hunted as that is what they are for and no silly restrictions on breeding from them etc. They seem to run around $1200 for a pup with papers, well worth it.

My son is breeding a second litter soon. First litter is turning out great.
I've got a Wire, but I have to say his Visla bitch is excellent. Very good on deer and ok on ducks. Mainly used for deer so that's the strength that has been developed in his one.

They are probably not a breed that will suit everyone because they are very gentle and seem to thrive on affection. Quite thin skinned, so they get cold but a jacket fixes that.

I've heard very good things about the pups from Dave Wilson that Malhunting has mentioned.

Getting a a good working line bred pup can be tricky. Even my son's bitch and the dog the pups are by are really first generation hunters. Lots of "flash" show breeding in most NZ Vislas.

Craig can be contacted through me.

Both, but mainly air scenting on four legged stuff.

Sure. He lives in Upper Hutt and his dog is hunting with him a couple of times a week.

I wouldn't get to hung up on the hunting back ground i have had a Vizsla from a show back ground with the sire being a rabbit dog and it worked just as hard as the dog i have now, i dont think that ability came from the sire being just a rabbiter. But for piece of mind i suppose it is a good thing, i just think the natural instinct to hunt is so high in these dogs that it doesn't matter to much what breeding they have.

    Hungarian Vizslas

Try Barat on here. She just had a litter about 3 months ago and may be planning more. Have not seen her for a while but I think here website is Barat.co.nz.
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds
