Just got out of Clements Mill aka Queen Street after a quick overnighter on Friday arvo/night- Saturday.
Camped at the truck on one of the road side campo sites and watched and listened to dozens of trucks go past us all night.
Did a quick recce of a spot I've been wanting to try for a while on Friday arvo and decided it would be the go for the Saturday Morning hunt. We were up the arse of a deer on the arvo recce but couldn't close the gap.
Saturday morning and off we went - got onto some good winding early on and Izzie ranged a little to far in front of me where she locked up and stood looking at a crown fern ridge above me. My hunting mate let out a fawn call and a sika stag literally charged at Izzie who turned tail and bailed back to me. I shot the stag at about 8m. It was in close and exciting stuff and all happened very quickly. And was on the deck by 730am.
The joke between me and my mate about Izzie is that she is now a "Finder and Bailer"
My best public land sika and not bad for an "old dog" - shes now 9 years old.
