    I never wander into or comment on the dog section (not because of any angst / opposing views, just don't own a dog anymore) but I've to admit that the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw the thread title was that it might be a wanted ad for a breeding program or something...

    Need to condition the pads not cover them up, salt water will help once they are stuffed.
    Exercising on different surfaces helps and you get some stuff from the vets to harden them up too
    easier to do this than arse about with boots.
    just ease them into it till the harden up.
    taupo pumice and shale down here will lame a dog up quick if they arent eased into it.

    Looks like he has no working pad surface.....used to use air dried sheep skins in the dog box for my old lockleys the oil in the wool helped.

    It's hard to tell buy the photo but I'm pulling back the dogs toe. So the raw stuff is inbtween the toe and center pad if you can understand
