Flip Calkoen is very good. We did some work with him years ago and were impressed with the results.

She loves swimming but unfortunately even that hasn't been allowed. Hopefully we can start that again soon. She gets a bit too excited around water which could damage the surgery. Will check out your suggestions.

@Bill999 thanks for that. Have been using a long line since the start. Still sometimes would prefer to strangle herself at the end of each time than just walk a metre less haha. I certainly helped.
We are just starting to work back through all the training i did prior and see where we get to.

consistant yank each time she does that and she will get the picture

there are things like prongged collars and leader collars that you clip the leash more to their muzzle if they are difficult to get control of i havent had to use them yet as most of my dogs are pretty sensitive and get the picture from just the yank

there are tons of great videos on leash pulling on youtube but long story short its getting sick of the messing around and yanking the second they try pull you rather than just hitting the end of the leash softly, no mercy just yank. if she ignores you and carrys on pulling yank harder. im yet to see a dog put up with more than 2 minutes of that before they decide to change what they are doing
you have a little bit of an uphill battle till you can go back to normal levels of excersize the pent up energy makes the dog far more likely to make mistakes, but this is life till shes back to 100%

the moment she pulls yank, she will look at you then you can give her a command. if she listens - reward her
every time she pulls she gets the hook set yank. no joke you will sort it on one walk unless she is stubborn

She must either have mental problems or be incredibly stubborn as i have been trying this for a while with very limited success. I have had a couple of trainer suggestions will speak with them to find the best fit. Hopefully they can help with the extreme excitement towards other dogs as well.

    Cheers for all the suggestions.

I saw this on the "Dog Whisperer" - Mexican American guy had a show on TV.

I've tried it and it worked for me, on my two SPCA ex pig dog pups. Both of them fast, eager and would run off as if there was a pig to chase, only coming back for food. Not so good in suburbia. Had to be on a leash at all times when out.

So this is what to do, if she is ignoring commands. She doesn't see you as the Boss, not the leader of the pack.

Sit down with her in a comfortable situation and when she's calm, gently lay her down on the floor, pat and stroke. Then lean on her, pin her to the ground, with your body, gently and wait. After a minute or so you will notice her give a big exhale, like a big sigh.

    This is her ceding dominance.

Now that you are the leader of the pack, things might go better. Try it - it's free. Might be worth doing twice.

    Also works on wives.

Lloyd Smith, Pup to Pen latest version of Book and or Video.
https://www.realdog.co.nz/ Look up how they train a hunterway to walk away from Farmer with stick and chain then move to longline.

Always tire dog out prior to training. With leg issues.. could be a good dog to Train yourself the trainer. Then get a working dog and train that right from pup.
If you want to talk please PM me as I am happy to share ideas or help train you.
