Wandering, worrying and attacking are all very different things, on his property he was probably within his rights but not nessacarily morally correct to shoot them(depending on situation)
Whatever he should have rung the owners and said come pick up your dogs I have shot them because....... Could have been some distaste but if they were attacking stock im sure the owners would have agreed shooting was the best option.
Now there is no evidence of anything and he went to the trouble to cover it up it makes him look like a wanker and most likely will be treated as such by all his neighbours.

Yes for sure, did he cover it up though or just not asked?
We had a dog going between our and the neighbours farms last lambing killing lambs, we'd both seen it, whenever it heard a bike it headed for home at full pace, we tried the council who said they could lend us a dog trap but it was all a bit above them...we both told the owner who was denying it was happening, this guy was huge, and the local druggy
Anyhow one day set a trap for it, neighbour shot it, we gathered up all the lambs and the dead dog took em two the guy, he was very understanding and pretty calm about it all

I seriously thought about making the road safe with something I had on the quad And it wasn't a reel and standards.
