If you check out the start of the thread , 1st post on page 1 , I mentioned the time it took and the fantail pic is around halfway down the page. It's not as detailed as the dogs as it is only on printer sized paper but the eagle head attached below shows the detail that can be achieved if you have waaaay to much time on your hands.
There's a few other drawings on my 'pet portraits - animal art' thread and more of the leather stuff in my 'playing with leather' thread if you fancy a nosey....
I like doing the dot style drawing for the detail and not many other people do it. I am experimenting more with the colour pencils and may do a series of nz large game animals to sell as prints if enough interest and I think they are good enough....

Ignore the crease line though , that's a copy of the one on my wall that's been living folded in a draw...
Thanks l missed them as the Nett at the farm is that slow at times you can read 6 pages before it loads large pic files off this forum ,they look grear ,next year you should offer the Game /Wild life drawings on xmas cards etc.

My first experiment using solely coloured pencils.... decidedly average but hopefully some practice and I will improve....

    Fucking hell.

    That’s it.

    My wife’s birthday present.

It’s a significant birthday the next one, cos its the first one I’m going to remember for quite a long time.

And to think that it’s actually on the same day as my mother’s.... That’s true too. Oh crikey.

So you can see why I’m keen, cos she loves her dogs, past and present. The challenges which one of her dogs has been the favourite? Probably this one.

He looks pleased with himself and is a big boy I had a girl that looked a similar size. She was 65kg. She was a bit of a hippopotamus though

Well that’s cool, because this dog - Mission - was exactly 65kg in his prime, aged 3 thru 7 or 8. Tall, remarkably athletic for such a heavyset dog, and abundant stamina. He got regular exercise as an old dog (shagging, mostly) and didn’t really get fat.

I still have his vet records with all his data. He hated the vet. He would sit with his arse tucked into the corner of the consulting room, and dare the vet... “if you think you’re sticking anything up there, you’re gonna have to be very, very brave”.

I think your pics are fantastic @Ftx325.

I could have a crack at it if you like @Flyblown.
Fire me off a PM if you are serious and I will give you my email address so you can send me the pic...the bigger and clearer the better for detail.
I might even be able to figure out some sort of scratch and sniff like they used to have when I was a kid for the pigshit....

lol my girl was quite short. My old boy ( behind my last bitch in my avatar) was 50kg, but he was about a foot taller than the hippopotamus. I called her my heavy artillery and my boy the advance scout he was a once in a lifetime dog. Knew all the tricks. If you have ever had a dog that knows what you are thinking, he was one of them.
