nah, I be happy with a face like that at our house but @gsp follower you are obviously biased towards dogs with a "crazy madhatter gene"

Of all the breeds we have owned, Pointers are hands down best in the house, best company and best all round pooch (but then I'm biased)

Same here. The main reason I got out of vizsla was the pointers were better at their job, and way better at home. Massive on/off switch. My vizsla were always doing starjumps in their kennels until the next morning. Very vocal too compared to the pointers

Here is a pic of my poncy one, been on a couple if close encounter in the bush, 2 yrs old and starting to come into her own, seen plenty of deer shot on slips etc, we had a great encounter two weeks ago which resulted in a downed deer, trying to really spend as much time in bush as possible to cement what we have learnt, certainly know when we are on hot scent and animals close. Have chosen to solely focus on deer or pigs if around but not on ducks or other birds.

My uncle just got a GSP from wairoa, very placid girl, massive feet and the size of my viszla and only 6mths old so will be a monster, going to be used for pheasant, also met the mother although she growled at me from in her kennel lol

true mikee but with the summer seasons 3 days away id give my left testicle to have the hyper selectively deaf hua sitting next to me at wolfs or available at home for any runners on the pea paddock
i have nothing against pointers big beautiful dogs but imagine trying to find a blind to fit one in a stubble paddock
just not suited to my hunting in the way a better suited cold water retriever will be .
the gsp was a stop gap he wasnt gunshy and he was a keen if awkward at times retriever.
but he did get me keen on quail and pheasants for that i,l always thank and miss him.
il never forget h im crying his way even in his wetsuit to a freezing parrie retrieve at boggy creek small waves making his awkward gsp swimming technique even more like drowning tho the water was barely high enough that he couldnt touch the bottom.

I know that pooch and a bloody good dog he was, we had a pointer convention (german and english) in the Rakaia riverbed did we not?

    more or less
he did take a shine to your girl and hence a dislike for your boy
thought sniffing around her much preferable to crossing the rdr to find my usually very findable cock pheasants.

I know they're not your cup of tea, but I'd just like to point out that most working pointers as a rule are much smaller than the show bred ones. In fact, they are smaller most GSPs

i think he was trying to explain the actual physical size of a working pointer is not what you indicated as being a problem.
many are in fact smaller than most gsp's as stated......the show pointer is another story.
