What is the best way to stop your dog getting grubby in those situations... do you carry a brush and shampoo or just brush in the field and then shampoo once home?

Had a mini dachshund once, she had a hellava appetite. Here she is finishing up a red stag.

I find with the show breeds such as yours keeping them covered works best. A plastic bag over the head, sealed at the neck with duct tape works wonders on so many levels

I am horrified by what you suggest... Some of you hunting people are just so, so... well crass... there i said it... I didn;t want to be nasty but you pushed me to it.... I think you're probably not much better than the horrible fat man I ran into in the park today. He claimed his dog was a "Proper Springer" but it was clearly a cross with some mongrel pig dog breed. The horror of it all....

I managed to snap a picture before he left....

Trust me Ruff, if you come across him again, steer clear. The horrible fat man who owns that dog would have put the bag on Tristram for you... There is no doubt of this mans spaniels ancestry as you suggest, only his
