Ran a Border collie-eye dog and a ridgeback cross, both bitches and spayed. Been mates for 4 years, never any agro. Were loose while I mowed the lawns, finished, called them, both running towards me with a bit of argi-bargi, developed into ww3, no hose would sort it, out of control, Ridgeback cross ended it's days with a 22 bullet. Was a very serious scrap, better dog got to live on.

I had two bitches quite a few years back and same thing they got on just fine while the young one knew its place, once she got old enough to fight fire with fire they scrapped the hell out of each other several times, literally tore shreds off each other and one of them ended up having to go live with my parents.

Best way to reduce the chance of any problems between them Micky is to make sure the young dog knows the older dog is above it in the order. So feed the old dog first, make sure the old dog wins any "argument" with the young one, by backing the old dog up by holding the young one down so the old one can get over the top of it. making the young one wait while the old one goes through the doorway first will also help reinforce that.
It's pretty natural that as the old dog gets weaker, and the young dog gets bigger and stronger, sooner or later the young one tries the old one on for the top dog spot ( obviously under you in the order ).

Meg is a weird one...I can still cower her down to pee herself with a raised voice...timid one minute, agro at other times, but even the agro is weird,no warning.
my gut feeling is its a non issue, the old gal will be past major conflict before young lass wants to rumble.....I hope.
