+1 for that. I keep coming back to that thought, it's just so true. RIP Shaka, you'll be remembered in your master's forum name.

Yeah time flys with them, and before you know it they are getting well on in age. My "new" boy is 10.

It’s a hard thing for sure and it jerks a rear from the hardest of men. RIP Shaka

    Ditto to that
One reason I like the smaller breeds as they do keep going on average 50% longer

My sympathies mate. Losing a dog is doubly tough because they (at least the good ones)
believe that the sole reason they exist is to make their master happy, and they act accordingly.

To be fair it was 7 years ago that it happened and a newbie bought up the old thread.
After that time it would be more of a look back and remember all the happy times you had with the muttlie

commiserations mate, although my dog was bred to be a pig hunter (and abused by his previous owner for being useless at it) he has been my mate for over 10 years now and thankfully according to his vet has a fair few years left in him yet.
losing a dog is like losing a part of the family, but remember the great times you had together and the life you gave him. so celebrate his life and the time you had together
