Sorry to hear that Kiwijames.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
Lot of sheepdogs have had a leg tucked into their collar to slow them down and develop attention span.
They can get along pretty well.
Had a beagle it had its front leg removed because of cancer , would swear it had six legs when it saw a cat she could still honk along to the discomfort of many a cat
Not good news , I hope for a good outcome for you and your dog . it's encouraging the feed back regarding 3 leged dogs .

At the vets now. Not really expecting a good outcome as he has gone downhill in the short time between visits.

that's hard Mate...hope you get a good outcome...my thoughts are with you.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts. Unfortunately Oskar is booked in for his last visit tomorrow.
Feeling a bit numb to be honest.

Gutted mate. Chin up, not an easy decision, but ultimately it's for the best.
I'm drawn to the mountains and the bush, it's where life is clear, where the world makes the most sense.

That's sad news indeed. If you can take any thing out of this , Know that he has led very happy life in the time he has been your companion and some time this answer is the best solution.
