So she's out, they did some x rays and turns out she's had a broken rib in the past but we'd never noticed her go through a period of pain or tenderness around it. I'd taken her to the vet previously about the lump and they brushed it off but when it grew I got concerned. so they thought it could be the rib and the local area has balled around it.
Ended up being some plant material in there, I reckon a grass seed. But the vets couldn't believe how far it had worked in.
So she's going to be ok, no cancer which was the main concern. Now just a very sore and sorry GSP for a few days. They've left a drain in so she's got a cone for when we're at work.

mate I am so pleased to hear the big C not an issue this time.......give your dog a pat and a cuddle and enjoy the short few years you have with her.
oh and if she anything like our dogs and destroys the cone of shame in no time.....drill holes around ring of base warehouse 99c bucket and cut out the ring, then dril another say 8 holes around bit of base thats left and zippy tie them onto her leather collar.heheheh they cant bust them up of get em off.
That's awesome newsShe will be good as gold in no time.
They can be sooks the old GSP but tough as nuts when they're having a good time.
My last dog had 3 shotgun pellets in him (not by me)
Was electrocuted chewing an extention lead.
Speared by a wounded red Stag and numerous other ailments but kept on trucking till he was 16 and finally had a stroke.
Even that didn't kill him but it was his time.
She looks like she loves her new hat.... Not

I copied the photo of your pooch on the couch to my wife.
She got a good laugh and said she had just got the same look when she come back into the lounge.
Bugger must have jumped straight up on the couch when she left the room.

i had 4 tumors removed from my dog last year, all scanned as benign. hope you get the same result
as my father in law ( who quoted saying he doesnt like dogs) said recently "dogs are people too".
I always wonder if those cones make them think their bark is louder!
Good to see her on the road to recovery.
good luck to you all
Good result, BH ...
