    Chamoi European skull mount.

Hi all I have just recently shot my first chamoi which I’m pretty stoked as it was a 8.5” buck, and I’m wanted to ask the best way to do the skull. I’ve have been told to steam it until the horns come off then boil it in dish soap and baking soda, take the sinus out and brain out then water blast it and finally bleach it then glue the horns back on. Is this the best way?

Yeah bro that's the process I followed.

I found the Chamois skull I cleaned was much more delicate than the red deer or tahr ones I had worked with - so be careful when boiling it (minimum time is best == don't leave it for hours and hours) and watch the water blaster strength and how close you are to the skull.

If you'd like to go down the rabbit hole this guy is a pro at it and shows how he does his skulls: https://www.youtube.com/@WHITEBONE , go to the skull cleaning playlist.

Good luck fella & congrats on your first chamm

Simmer not boil, set timer for 15mins and every 15mins give a water blast. If the nose bones do come off you can superglue them back. Have a rag or gloves and give the horns a wriggle untill they come off and give them a blast inside to remove any blood/ membranes

You could look up warm water maceration, Ive never tried this method as it causes the biggest stink. This method allows the sinus bones etc... to stay in place and you could get away from using a water blaster
