Thread: Tanner/expeditor south island

I'm an Aussie looking for a tanner and someone to send stuff to Australia.
Someone to send a cape and skull too, get it tanned and skull cleaned then have them send it to Australia with any necessary documents etc.

I previously used Great lake tannery on the north island but I believe they are no longer a going concern.

Honestly I'd probably forego the skin and just take the skull but would like a contact to send it too in case I can't get the skull clean in time for the flight home.

If you want to take just the skull home with you I could do a quick turn around.

If your wanting the cape any taxidermist can do this for you. If your coming from south of Christchurch Brodie at Southern Alps taxidermy in Pleasant Point would be my go to.

Contacted Southern Alps taxidermy as suggested and they say they won't do it.
Big Game Taxidermy said they are too busy.

Thanks for recommending Southern Alps Taxidermy we appreciate the good word Just to clarify, this season we are not offering exporting services- only taking in local work with a focus on skulls/replica fish/taxidermy mounts. Just ask around, there will be a taxidermist with openings still.

If you do a DIY job, can you take a head back to Australia without issue. Asking for a cob who is here?

Thanks Bob, flying in for the ballot tomorrow morning so not shot yet, just need to provision a plan

Just make sure there are no traces of fat/tissue/brain and you'll be fine. Customs to Australia are quite particular about the skulls being cleaned up fully.

I never have the resources or time to get it cleaned up before I fly home, that's my trouble.
