Ban on using jacketed ammo on steel plates?

Has anyone else's pistol club decreed a restriction on using jacketed pistol bullets on steel plates? It was mentioned at a recent AGM and released in our club range rules, but no idea if this is some sort of local directive by 'The Authorities' or from Pistol NZ. has anyone heard anything like this? I don't know if its really being enforced or not.

Possibly more to do with the type of steel being used for the plates? We have restrictions at our club for certain ranges where the
    steel hardness grade is sub-optimal.

The above should be mitigated by target angle and sand trap if needed.

So I’ll take that generally as a no.. that your pistol clubs have not written this into range rules? If so, it must be a local decision and not a National Pistol NZ ruling.

Some classes such as CAS shoot lead or powdercoated projectiles only but all our targets can take jacketed ammo.

The targets at our range are all suitable for jacketed bullets, and has been so for many years, which is why we are confused about the origins of the ruling. Still waiting on postponed AGM to ask the question.

Well I'll consider the question answered then, no other clubs are having this issue.
