    Hey Jacob.
Just wondering which C8 would be best suited for a gun light set up on a .22. Runtime would be important too, although happy to purchase 2 batteries or more to improve runtime. Looking at these three at the moment:
    Osram C8+ V1 White, 937m Range, Hunting

    Convoy C8+, Luminus SST40, 2150 Lumens

Convoy C8+, Cree XPL HI, 1350 Lumens

Looking to ideally use with a switch too.
    Cheers

    Hi Joel,

Sorry for the delay, I've been wrapping orders since 2pm, just not long finished.

I'll get back to you after having a sleep.

Iv got heaps of these little torches from Jacob, I stumbled across him on facebook.
the one battery 18650s are my favorite for spotlighing at night
I carry a second whole torch rather than a battery

they work so bloody well and fit in normal pockets rather than the bigger maxtoc that falls out because its so long and basically never gets used any more

    Hi,

Here's a comparison of all three

    Name: Osram.jpg
Views: 211
Size: 44.0 KB

It entirely comes down to personal preference. The Osram versions will get you the best range by 300m

    Approx runtime on High

    Osram V1 - 4.2A - 46 min
    Osram V2 - 7.4A - 24 min - may as well include it
    XPL HI - 5.5A - 33 min
    SST40 - 7A - 25 min

High can only be activated it short bursts

    Osram V1 - 3.5 min
Osram V2 - need to retest but it was around 2 min.
    XPL HI - 5 min
    SST40 - 3.2 min

Runtime on 100% until reaching 50°C, tested at 19°C room temp on my desk. You would see different results outside

Pressure switch will reduce the lumens on all three due to the resistance of the long length of wire. Many brands result in the same but they won't ever tell you.

    Osram V1 - 650 lumens
    XPL HI - 1100
    SST40 - 1600

I personally love the tight beam of the Osram for a gun light, I'd use something else for searching too.

    Hope that helps

I will mention that those photos lose most of the surrounding light, so it looks narrower than it really is.

Finally got around to reuploading the Osram C8+ V1, my camera settings were wrong for the original video
